Happy New Year ♡

Hello Friends!

It's been a while since I've posted here, because the holidays went by in a whirl and I just didn't have a spare moment! But we are getting back into our regular routine after a much needed rest, and it feels really good. I hope you all had an absolutely beautiful time with family and friends, and that your year is off to a great start!

It felt like we lived in South America over Christmas, with unseasonably warm and humid weather, but after the New Year we had a lovely snowfall. The warm weather was actually nice because we were late getting our bulbs planted, and the weather made it possible for us to put in quite a few tulips, daffodils and crocuses before the cold really hit.

It wasn't a ton of snow, but it was enough to make everything look dreamy and the kids had a lot of fun making snowmen and having snow ball fights. Flock Cottage looked especially cute in it, but I still miss my flowers.

The chickens and ducks didn't seem particularly fond of the snow and ice, so I am glad they have such a cozy place to camp out on the super wintery days.

It's a little bit harder for me to find pretty subjects to take pictures of in the bleak wintertime, so you're stuck with pictures of snow, chickens and eggs today-- but I'm counting down the days until it's time to start seeds in prep for the spring garden! It's really not that long now!

I figured that with all the ice and freezing temps that the flock would stop laying, and they did slow down a lot in the fall when they were molting. But oh my goodness, we are getting SO many eggs now! It's a little hard to keep up with and I think soon we will need to sell them. Hopefully we can find customers, because many people around here have their own flocks. Selling a few dozen eggs a week would make it easier for us to keep up with using the rest, and would also help offset some of our feed costs.

How many eggs do you think are in that huge bowl? I didn't count them but I am guessing around 150! What would you do with so many eggs?

Leave me a comment and let me know what your year has looked like so far! Are you planning a garden? Starting a flock? Tell me all about it! I love to hear from you.

In other news, we are working on restocking our ready to ship section on the website with lots of beautiful dreamware and we have so many creative ideas for new products this year! Can't wait to show you. Thank you all for following along and supporting our family, dreams and small business.

xx, Loran
